Metabolic Evaluation for Bariatric Surgery Patients
The Cooper Center for Metabolism (CCM) provides post-surgery consultation and management for patients who have undergone bariatric surgery for weight loss and are experiencing recurring weight gain. We work with a variety of patients who have had prior gastric bypass surgery, Lap-Band, or vertical banded gastroplasty.
Our goal is to address underlying metabolic issues that impact body weight and overall health. Although surgery produces immediate results, some of the metabolic issues that caused the original weight gain still continue to impact body weight and metabolic response, leading to weight regain.
We also offer a specialized program for post-bariatric surgery patients who struggle with symptoms of fatigue, dizziness, irritability, and confusion related to abnormal blood sugar reactions.
Although we don’t provide surgical weight loss treatment, we do provide pre-surgical consultation to uncover medical issues related to obesity and to discuss potential strategies that may not have been previously considered.
